Today is Thanksgiving. What am I thankful for? The assassination of Pierre Gmayel? Definitely not. The fear that the Lebanese people live in constantly these days? No. The economy as it slips lower and lower? No way!
It's easy to get cynical to the point of poisoning one's food here in Lebanon. So I wish to find something to be thankful for in this dire hour of death, conspiracy, and burial of all things good. I'm thankful that there are those here who want to see Lebanon rebuilt and are ready to fight for it. I'm thankful that God's hand is upon Lebanon, though we may not always see it. I'm thankful that I've been given numerous opportunities recently to appreciate the various factions in Lebanon.
Hope is what I hold fast to. Hope from above.
Steel remains cold, but a heart can be warmed.
